Hi, I’m Kat.

I have been a member of the violin section of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for over 20 years. I received my Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory and my Master of Music from The Juilliard School. I live in Manhattan with my husband, violist Dov Scheindlin and enjoy being an orchestral player, chamber musician, studio recording artist, entrepreneur (check out www.luxitune.com), and mom of 2 energetic kids. I teach all ages and levels so if you’re ready to learn I’m ready to teach you!

Let’s Work Together

Private Lessons : At this time, I am available to teach private remote lessons over Zoom or FaceTime. If you are local to Manhattan, I am also available to teach in-person. Social distancing and mask-wearing are required.

Practice Coach : Practicing in itself is an acquired skill. If you feel like your practice technique needs a refresh, I can practice with you and coach you along the way. I’ll provide specific techniques and exercises that will help to catapult your progress. This will help to reinforce good practice techniques and kick any bad habits to the curb. Think of me as your practice accountability buddy. This option is perfect for all ages.

Mock Auditions/Orchestra Excerpts : Over the years, I have judged numerous Met Opera Orchestra auditions for all instruments as well as placement auditions for The Juilliard School, The Manhattan School of Music, and The Mannes School of Music. If you’re looking to solidify your orchestral excerpts and learn more about the audition process, this option is perfect for you.

Career Advisor : Becoming a professional classical musician can be a tricky career to navigate. I can help you develop the skills you’ll need to maximize your potential and carve out the path that works for you. Additionally, I can help connect you to many industry professionals who can provide even more insight to help you on your way to becoming a professional musician.
